Consumption Permit under Liquor Control

  1. When will the new Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act come into effect?
  • The Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act will come into effect on 1 April 2015.

 

  1. What is the liquor licence categorization under the new Act?
Current Categorisation New Categorisation New Trading Hours
1st Class Public House  Class 1A  0600hrs to 2359hrs
2nd Class Public House  Class 1B  0600hrs to 2200hrs
Beer House Licence  Class 2A 0600hrs to 2359hrs 
Outdoor Beer House  Class 2B As indicated in the licence 

Retail Liquor Shop

 Class 3A 0700hrs to 2230hrs 
Retail Beer Shop  Class 3B  0700hrs to 2230hrs
Wholesale Liquor Shop and Wholesale Beer Shop  Class 4  0700hrs to 2230hrs
Temporary Liquor Licence 

Class 5 - Temporary Liquor Licence, e.g.

  • Temporary Class 1A
  • Temporary Class 2A
  • Temporary Class 3A
  • Temporary Class 4

Similar to the respective Class type, e.g.

  • 0600hrs to 2359hrs
  • 0600hrs to 2359hrs
  • 0700hrs to 2230hrs
  • 0700hrs to 2230hrs

  

  1. For liquor retailers holding a 3A / 3B / 4 Licence:
  • Is there a changed in my approved trading hours?
    • Yes, new trading hours are from 0700hrs to 2230hrs daily.
  • Can I apply for an extension of trading hours?
    • You may apply for an extension of trading hours after 1 April 2015. Each application will be assessed on a case by case basis.
  • Will there be a refund for the shortened trading hours?
    • There will be no refund for the shortened trading hours from 2359hrs to 2230hrs. However, if you have paid for extended hours (beyond 2359hrs) for the period from 1 April 2015, a refund will be provided.
